Containers
- Plant in well-drained soil if you are re-potting into larger containers: do not bury the main stem below the soil surface.
- Incorporate a slow release fertilizer at 1/2 the label rates into the soil (if the soil you are using does not already contain fertilizer).
- An alternative way to fertilize is to apply water-soluble fertilizer at 1/3 the label rates, as needed; do not over fertilize.
- Water plants well after planting and keep the media evenly moist until plants are established (7-10 days).
- Plants may flag slightly after they are established, simply water well and they should revive within 24 hours. Do not allow plants to severly wilt as this may cause leaf burn or scorching.
- Remove old plumes if desired, but new growth will cover old blooms leaves.
In the Garden
- Plant in well-drained soil rich in organic matter, such as well-decomposed compost.
- Incorporate a slow release fertilizer at 1/2 the label rates into the soil when you plant.
- An alternative way to fertilize is to apply water-soluble fertilizer at 1/3 the label rates, as needed; do not over fertilize.
- Plant in full sun or part shade.
- Water plants well after planting and keep the media evenly moist until plants are established (7-10 days).
- Mulch if desired to help retain soil moisture, water if under severe drought conditions.
